I swear to god.. gods, all of them, that doing this was like a test for school. LOL

Of course most of this is for mun knowledge.

Alan Grant: Paleontologist who coordinates field research and digs for Jurassic park. Grant and Malcolm are friends at times but rarely see each other.

Attractors The point in space or time where a dynamic system displays a chaotic event. The subset of chaotic events in an otherwise unchaotic system is the attractors.

Biostatistical research: Research that applies statistics to any biological theory. In the case of Malcolm his is based in Evolution.

Biosyn: The competitor of InGen. They really hate Malcolm.

Brenda: Malcolm’s graduate student and assistant at MIT. She studies the mathematical progression of stream beds.

Butterfly effect: is the notion in chaos theory that small variations in a dynamic system at the beginning of an iteration can cause very erratic outcomes. It is a method of showing the sensitivity in a system. Usually it is described in the sense of time travel where stepping on a butterfly millions of years earlier could compound into man never existing.

Chaos Theory: Is a set of mathematical principles to explain and understand the way a dynamic system evolves over time.

Chaotic dynamics requires the following properties: the system must be sensitive to initial conditions, topologically mixing and periodic passing must be dense. Sesativity is determined by how much effect is caused to they system by a small beginning perturbance. Topologically mixing means the system must evolve over time. Linear systems because of this can never be chaotic. Chaotic dynamics are always non-linear.

Complex systems: any system composed of interconnected components. Not all complex systems are dynamic. Some complex systems are static.

Costa Rica: Ian was imprisoned there after his injury in Jurassic Park. He has a non-disclosure agreement with Hammond and the government of Costa Rica.

Dynamic systems: Math concept that describes interrelated points with in a system that are both evolving and effecting each other.

Ellen Malcolm: Ian’s third wife whom he was separated from when he left for Nublar. They've been divorced for a little over two years.

Ellie Sattler: Paleobotonist who is both an excavation and romantic partner of Alan Grant. She has a great amount of respect for Ian’s ability to think everything through.

Gerry Harding: Chief veterinarian of Jurassic Park and father of Sarah Harding.

Henry Wu: Head geneticist of Jurassic Park. Ian feels he is irresponsible and doesn’t like him at all.

InGen: Hammond’s genetics corporation.

Isle Nublar: Location of Jurassic Park. An Island off the west coast of Costa Rica

Isle Sorna: Location of Site B. This is where most of the research on behavior, diet and other factors is recorded to better the habitats in the Jurassic Park proper. This is a place of free roaming dinosaurs.

John Arnold: Head administrator of Jurassic Park. Easily flustered but able to keep a lot of things under control.

John Hammond:([livejournal.com profile] jp_hammond) Founder of InGen and Curator of Jurassic Park.

Jurassic Park: A theme park with live dinosaurs off the west coast of Costa Rica on the Isle Nublar.

Kelly Curtis Malcolm: Ian’s daughter from his first marriage. She’s in her early teens and a gymnast. Ian never gets to see her. He only gets to spend time with her when her mother can't fit the girl into her schedule however his ex-berates him about how he's not interested in his daughter.

Malcolm effect: A theory developed by Ian that describes the way all systems are inherently set to crumble through the effects of chaos. It is the rapid and catastrophic failure of complex systems when influenced at moments when the system is inherently flawed.

MIT: Ian’s current school where he is a professor of Quantum Mathematics, Chaos Theory, Biostatistics and Evolutionary mechanics.

Osteomyelitis: After his injury in Jurassic Park to his left thigh, Ian developed septic osteomyelitis. The condition has persisted for nearly three years. It causes severe pain at times as well as some difficulty walking. He often relapses to being unable to walk due to the severity of the infection.

Peter Ludlow: Hammond’s nephew bent on turning Jurassic Park into a way to make money no matter the outcome.

Richard Levine: An eccentric millionaire who is also a paleontologist. Ian hates him. He’s irresponsible and only wants facts no matter what it causes. He is consistently trying to find out from Malcolm the location of Isle Sorna as well as the nature of how and where Ian was injured.

Robert Muldoon: Head security at Jurassic Park. Muldoon was a safari guide in Africa for many years. Ian and Muldoon are fairly close friends and have always agreed on the insanity of the park’s existence.

Santa Fe Institute: A consortium in New Mexico where Ian often goes to lecture.

Sarah Harding: Daughter of Gerry Harding. She’s an animal behaviorist. She and Ian had a short term relationship but now merely tolerate each other as professionals.

Strange attractions: Complex and multidimensional sets of chaotic events within a dynamic system.

Texas A&M: Where Ian will be relocated to become a professor of Quantum mechanics and Cosmic Evolution while researching the possible evolutionary paths for life outside our solar system with other professors at the school.

The three Mrs. Malcolms. : Ian has been married three times. His first wife is mother of Kelly. His second is rather unknown and his third; Ellen, he hates the most of all of them.

Tim and Lex Murphy: Hammond’s grandchildren, from his daughter, were the ones Ian was trying to rescue when he was injured by the T-Rex.

Tyrannosaurus Rex: Ian’s leg injury is due to being thrown and stepped on by a female tyrannosaur. He has nightmares about the attack quite regularly.
